Phoebe Ellis

I was a weird kid, always enjoyed visiting museums especially the Pitt Rivers (Oxford), as I lived near there, and it was an early memory of exploring with torches and opening drawers.

Then I saw some conservators working on a painting in a Schloss in Germany and didn’t realise this was a real job! I have always enjoyed history and art and was thrilled to find this course.

Have enjoyed combining researching items and their context and wanted to develop my knowledge with all materials.

Experienced working with metal, ceramics, gilding, wood, and paper and particularly enjoy working on objects with mixed materials.

Am interested in learning more about wood and hope to do the MA next year, but currently think as a conservator/curator for a diverse collection.
